
Summary
In a dystopian world being ruled by a tight and restrictive government, fifteen-year-old Day thrives in the streets. Between getting in fights and being on the wanted list as a criminal, Day avoids the government at all costs. June, daughter of a wealthy Republic family, is an upcoming prodigy with a skillset that is ready to kill. Once June’s brother is murdered, June is ready to put her skills to use in hunting down Day because he is the primary suspect. Why should I read this?
This is a fast-paced book that carries the reader through a surprising plot. It touches on government problems and how change does not always have to be viewed as a bad thing. Additionally, this book demonstrates how important friendship and loyalty are. Even though the main characters are from very different backgrounds, they learn to put their differences aside and join together to disrupt the corrupt government.

The alternation between perspectives at every chapter keeps the reader engaged and eager to turn the page to find out what happens. This suspenseful novel also includes a bit of romance and ends in a way that leaves the reader desperate to find the next book in the trilogy, “Prodigy.”
